Nissan has received 179 million public aid since 2009, according to the committee

The company committee of Nissan Zona Franca and Montcada i Reixac (Barcelona) presented on Wednesday a strategic plan, which shows that since 2009 the car has received State and Generalitat grants amounting to 179.7 millions.
According to the works committee, which has cited data from the Ministry of Industry, since 2009 Nissan has received state aid for a total of 154.64 million euros.
For its part, the Generalitat has made available to Nissan for the development of its activity in Catalonia a total of 25.1 million euros of grants and loans between 2010 and 2017, according to the report.
For the unions, this set of aid from the central and regional administrations is an important amount on the set of investments made by the company.
These aids "are a sample of the contribution of Catalan and Spanish society for the development of Nissan's business in the country", and the works council considers that the automobile must respond to this "social commitment" with responsibility to society.
The works council presented this strategic plan a day after the Nissan management announced yesterday that its plans to guarantee the future of the Barcelona factory go through an adjustment of 600 workers, 20% of the total, through early retirement and low incentives.
