Next Christmas you will no longer see ads for dolls only with girls

Next Christmas, Spaniards will no longer see advertisements on television for new production of dolls and dolls in the arms of only girls or little girls playing 'kitchens', since advertising will have to be mixed to avoid the exclusive association of toys that play roles.
This will be the case after the agreement signed this Wednesday between the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the Spanish Association of Toy Manufacturers (AEFJ) and Autocontrol to establish a self-regulatory code that, for the first time, includes the express prohibition of using the image of girls in advertisements aimed at minors.
The new code, which replaces the last one from 2015 and will come into force on December 1, 2022 for new production ads, contains 64 ethical standards.
What they pursue, as indicated in some of them, is to promote and encourage a plural, egalitarian image free of stereotypes of minors, and for this the characterization of girls with sexual connotations will be prohibited and, for example, the association of toys with care, domestic work or beauty with them, and that of action, physical activity or technology with children.
