New ways to compete – La Provincia

Although sports practice is making its way in the new normality imposed by the coronavirus, there is still time to enjoy the adrenaline of the live competition again. But I know virtually. The La Santa Club in Lanzarote launches an international running test. This will take place between June 6 and 7. Registrations open next Monday and 30% of the proceeds will go to the Unicef Foundation.

Club La Santa, expert organizer of major events such as the Volcano Triathlon, the Ironman Lanzarote, the Ironman 70.3, the International Running Challenge, the 4 Stage MTV Race Lanzarote, changes the chip in these times marked by the coronavirus and launches to convene an international non-face-to-face international competition.

This is the Virtual Series, an appointment with the running that will take place between the 6th and 7th of next June. This event is a pioneer in the Canary Islands and becomes the second to be held in Spanish territory, offering runners the option of running five or ten kilometers.

Participants will be able to cover the distance they choose, or both, on the terrain they prefer, even in their own home. This is a way to compete with many other sports enthusiasts from different countries, being part of the same classification and competing for exclusive prizes.

Those interested in taking part in the Virtual Series can register from next Monday in one or both races and thus enter the respective final classifications, having to send the organization a photo or a screenshot of their training device that includes the time done, distance and date. The deadline to sign up is June 4 before midnight.

Young people between the ages of 12 and 17 may also participate. Their parents must register and accept the participation authorization included in the terms and conditions of the event. Up to three distances have been programmed for them: three, five and eight kilometers.

The registration fee is ten euros, and this includes the certificate of finisher, the official digital medal of the event, the personalized bib number and the inclusion in the competitions to choose the best photography and the best logo of the event, which give option to win exclusive prizes. 30% of the proceeds will go to the Unicef Foundation. All the detailed information on this virtual event can be found on the organizer’s website.

The events director of the Club La Santa, Fabio Eligio Santana, values the large number of prizes to be distributed in this new event, “in which we have spared no effort and we have turned to make it a resounding success.”

He explains that a dozen prizes for the best photo have been established, “including stays in one of the Club La Santa apartments, free registrations or discounts for the Ironman Lanzarote or the Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote, in addition to bonuses to enjoy in our installations”.

Regarding the best design of the event, the winner will have a four-night stay in a Club La Santa apartment as a gift.

Young people will also have a prize section for the best photo. The first five in each of the three available contests will take a pack merchandise that is valued at 150 euros and bonuses of various amounts for excursions, event registrations and others to spend at the facilities of the organizing entity.

There will be a single prize for the best Club La Santa Virtual Series logo and another for the funniest photo (for runners under 12 years old) with an exclusive merchandise pack valued at 100 euros.

Finally, there will be a prize section for creative competitions. To qualify for them, the distances at which they have registered must have been completed, and this end must be confirmed by the organization. He will be awarded the photo of the city of the runner from any perspective, the best photo of the start and goal of his virtual career, and the best image that represents the spirit of Club La Santa.
