Netanyahu announces that he will ask for immunity to avoid being tried for corruption

The acting Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced today in a television appearance that he will ask Parliament for immunity to avoid being tried for three corruption cases.
"I intend to appeal to the president of the Knesset (Parliament) to exercise my right and my duty to continue serving the citizens," Netanyahu said in an expected live speech.
The announcement comes hours before the end of the deadline to request protection and is the last resort that Netanyahu has left to avoid being tried for bribery, fraud and abuse of trust in three different cases.
