Further, 62% of Spaniards consider that their consumption is a tool to change the world and more than half say they feel identified with the new trends that advocate that the economy should serve more people and the planet. In this profile of consumers, young people are more likely to be confronted with a segment of the population over 60 years of age, which ensures that these factors are not given any importance.
In this way, Spaniards base their purchasing decisions on arguments that go beyond quality in relation to price and look for more products manufactured in a sustainable, proximity way and that come from socially responsible companies. Therefore, 10% admit that they would be willing to pay an extra cost without conditions and for any type of product. This section is applied if that surcharge is small (36%) or if they are specific articles and related to the issues with which they are most sensitive (24%).
The study shows that it is at home where Spaniards often put these responsible habits into practice, since 89% say they recycle, 82% say they want to save water and 79% repair before throwing something away.
