Navantia has been selected in the bidding process carried out by the United States Government for the repair and maintenance of the Arleigh Burke-Class Destroyers (DDGs) and other US Navy ships deployed at the Rota Naval Base (Cádiz).
The new contract, which is valid until January 2028, is for a maximum amount of 822.4 million euros and could generate more than 1,000 direct jobs per year, as reported in a statement by Navantia.
In this way, Navantia has highlighted that it “consolidates itself as the main maintainer of the US Navy in Rota”, a role it has been playing since 2013. It is a contract «Extensive in manpower, with a high level of technical requirements demanded by the client and very rigorous in meeting deadlines “, which makes him” an important source of wealth and training for Navantia and its partner companies. “
Furthermore, it will result in process improvements and, therefore, “in a better global positioning of the company in the Defense market”. Navantia has facilities and personnel deployed in the Rota Naval Base, where all the activities associated with this new assignment will be centralized. These facilities, in addition to supporting US Navy ships, provide support activities for Spanish Navy ships.
