The Spanish Rafael Nadal (2) won its premiere at the Australian OpenAustralian Open Serbian in three sets Laslo djere (6-3, 6-4 and 6-2), despite the doubts generated by his back problems when serving.

“It has been a difficult fifteen days for me because of my discomfort and at least I have survived. I’m happy to have advanced in three sets “he commented after the conclusion of the match.

The Spaniard made his way to the second round for the fifteenth time at Melbourne Park, which was his sixteenth participation in the first Grand Slam of the season.

He only fell once in the first round, when he stumbled in his 2016 edition debut against his compatriot Fernando Verdasco. In the last edition it reached the quarterfinals.

Nadal started conservative at the service, as a result of the back discomfort, after closing a first set 6-3 in which he accumulated a single direct serve.

His lack of power in the serve did not pose any problem for him since he kept his rival, the Serbian Djere, under control at all times after achieving a break in the final section, after the Balkan previously intimidated the service of the Spanish in white .

Djere was encouraged and offered his best tennis during the second round, but the concentration of the Balearic, who did not lower his guard at any time, deprived him of appropriating a second set that fell on the side of Nadal 6-4 after closing a last complicated service game, in which he saved two break balls .

It deflated in the last set and Nadal took advantage of the situation to offer several parallel rights that raised the public of the track Rod Laver from their seats.

His next opponent will be known after the conclusion of the match between the American Michael Mmoh and the Serbian Viktor Troicki, in a clash in which both players come from the qualifying phase.
