Mourning, consternation and pain in the university community of the ULPGC for the death in a fatal traffic accident that occurred on the GC-2, in Santa María de Guía, of the student of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Alba María del Pino Martín, 26 years old.

The event, happened at dawn on Saturday, It has shocked Santa María de Guía, where the student was from, and her teachers, students and colleagues from the ULPGC.

The Gran Canaria University published a statement this Saturday giving an account of the death of the Social Work student: “With deep sorrow, we regret to announce that our colleague Alba María del Pino Martín, a student of the Degree in Social Work, has passed away. The Rector and the entire university community express their sorrow and join the grief from your family, friends and colleagues. Rest in peace. ”

Messages of condolences and support for the young student’s family have multiplied in recent hours. Thus, on Saturday afternoon the Delegation of Students of the Faculty of Legal Sciences, in which Alba was studying the degree of Social Work, published a statement of regret on the social network Twitter. The young woman had successfully finished her degree this course and defended her final degree project.

The Student Council, teachers, and the rector of the ULPGC, Lluis Serra, have also expressed their pain and regret.

Her Social Work colleagues have paid an emotional tribute to Alba with a warm message to her of “see you soon.” Also of gratitude “for your empathy these years, your kindness and closeness and above all for all those times you stood up for us as a delegate. You were a great example.” Messages of affection and support that, like this one, his family has thanked his family in these difficult times.
