The soprano Montserrat Caballé has died at the age of 85 at dawn this Saturday at the Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona, hospital sources have informed Europa Press. The soprano was admitted from mid-September in the center, where she was admitted urgently for a problem in the gallbladder. On September 24, the family reported the income and that it had been treated for a while in the center but that its evolution was good and it was expected to be discharged in a few days.
The health of the diva is delicate for years and, in fact, her precarious state freed her in 2015 to go to the courts of Barcelona to be judged for defrauding half a million euros to the Treasury, with which the case was settled with a agreement with the Office of the Prosecutor that the diva ratified from her home, by videoconference.
The funeral will be Monday at noon at the Tanatorio de les Corts, while the wake will be this Sunday from 2 pm at the same center, according to funeral sources.
