Mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza dies at 89

Teresa Berganza, the internationally famous mezzo-soprano from Madrid, has died at the age of 89, family sources have confirmed to Efe.

Born in Madrid in 1933, Berganza took her voice to the Scala in Milan, the Vienna Opera, Covent Garden in London and the Metropolitan in New York.

Before choosing to sing, he studied piano, harmony, chamber music, composition, organ and cello.
