Mercedes and BMW will invest 1,000 million euros in joint mobility services
The German automobile manufacturers BMW and Daimler are going to invest more than 1,000 million euros in joint mobility services and they plan to create more than 1,000 jobs around the world.
Both companies presented in Berlin today the plans of their global mobility company for which they have created five joint ventures of various services such as car sharing or parking.
BMW and Daimler said that some 60 million customers use these services worldwide. These joint ventures are Reach Now, Charge Now, Free Now, Park Now and Share Now.
"We have built a strong customer base with our mobility offers, now we take the next strategic step. We group the forces and the knowledge of 14 success brands and we invested more than 1,000 million euros in a new player in an urban mobility market, which is growing rapidly, "said outgoing Daimler President Dieter Zetsche, who also runs the Mercedes-Benz Cars brand.
The president of BMW, Harald Krüger, stressed that the five services are merged into an offer of mobility with fleets of electric vehicles and autonomous driving.
