September again shows contradictory signs in the labor market. Upload employment, if measured according to Social Security, which won 22,899 affiliates. On the other hand, registered unemployment also increased. He did it in 20,441 unemployed, according to data from the Ministry of Employment. Both data and something are somewhat lower than in 2017, so that contradiction so typical of this month is accentuated.
In the gain of affiliates, which has left the total figure at 18.86 million, education has once again played an important role. This branch has won 53,308 affiliates in the general regime, more than twice the following: activities administrative activities, which had 20,689 more contributors.
These sectors compensated for the drop in employment in the hotel trade and commerce, something typical of September, when the high season of tourism ends and the high peak of hiring typical of the summer becomes a valley.
The annual evolution of the afill shows that the labor market continues to create employment at a fairly high rate. In the last 12 months, it has advanced at a rate of 2.87% and has added 526,000 new contributors with employment. Both figures are high. What happens is that both numbers are lower than those observed in recent months and, in this sense, we can speak of a certain deceleration. Last year, in the same month, the advance was 626,000 more contributors and the annual growth rate exceeded 3.5%.
In contrast, in registered unemployment data are somewhat better than in previous years. That almost 20,500 more unemployed who registered last month is the lowest figure since 2014 and leave the total number at 3.2 million. However, this registry is less indicative than the Social Security on what is the real situation of the labor market or the survey of the active population, whose edition corresponding to the third quarter of the year will be known entered this month. This will be a good thermometer to know the extent of the deceleration observed.
This brake is also seen in the number of hirings. This year in September, fewer contracts were signed than the previous year: 1,952,397 versus 1,993,267. So far this year, however, the accumulated data still show an advance of 2.95%, up to 16.47 million. These bulky numbers are a clear indication of the instability and abundant precariousness in the Spanish labor market.
The numbers of hiring show a positive data in the indefinite hirings. This September they accounted for 11.9% of the total compared to 9.2% that was in this month last year. This increase coincides with the start of the Labor Inspection shock plan to prosecute the labor fraud launched in August. A specific measure of this plan has been to send letters to companies that have detected signs of fraud in temporary hiring to make conversions to undefined under the warning that if they did not receive the visit of the Inspection to check the situation.
