Maroto and several regional presidents support the recovery and promotion of the Camino de Santiago

Parliament Square of Logroño This Saturday welcomed the signing of the Declaration of Institutional Cooperation on the Camino Frances de Santiago. An act that has insisted on the “commitment of all competent institutions for the recovery of the Camino de Santiago, for its protection and promotion with a vision of the future.”

The event, which began after 12 noon and was organized by the Association of Municipalities of the Camino de Santiago, was attended by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto; the president of La Rioja, Concha Andreu; the president of Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo; the president of Navarra, María Chivite; the President of the Junta de Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, and the Minister of Education, Culture and Sports of the Government of Aragon, Felipe Faci Lázaro.

At 11.30 am, the president of the Association of Municipalities of the Camino de Santiago (AMCS) and mayor of Logroño, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, they have received the different presidents together with the Cubo del Revellín. Subsequently, all have crossed the door of Revellín, place of passage of the pilgrims on their Way to Santiago, and the act that will include the signing of the Declaration of Interregional Cooperation between the Autonomous communities.

The event began with the words of the Mayor of Logroño, Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza, who stressed that “There are many municipalities that are part of the Camino de Santiago and we serve as a bridge between the autonomous administrations to have good coordination because the road unites us and makes us equal“.” Today -with this act- we show our commitment and collaboration with the Camino de Santiago “.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, highlighted that the institutional cooperation agreement ratified between five Autonomous Communities, “will boost values” of the Camino de Santiago, as well as the tourist, economic and hysterical resources of the Jacobean Route.

In her speech, the minister has valued the 121 million euros consigned within the Xacobeo Plan 2021-2022 that will revert, among other issues, to the promotion of the Camino.
