The Austrian Marco Schwarz and the Slovak Petra Vlhova claimed the victory in the City Event of the Ski World Cup held today in Oslo (Norway). The first test of 2019 took place in the emblematic sports center of Holmenkollen. The skiers enjoyed a magnificent environment and ideal conditions during the multiple rounds of challenges that led to the highest step of the podium.
For Schwarz, it was his first victory in the World Cup in any discipline. The specialist in the slalom tests won the third podium of his career and the first in three seasons just before Christmas in Madonna di Campiglio, finishing in second place in the night slalom held at the Italian station. Today, he overtook Dave Ryding of Great Britain in the final to secure his first victory in the competition. Ramon Zenhaeusern of Switzerland overtook Swede Andre Myhrer in the small final to complete the podium in third place.
Petra Vlhova, meanwhile, faced her eternal rival and leader of General Mikaela Shiffrin in the women's grand final. The cross blocking technique of the Slovak provided him with the necessary advantage to ensure his first victory in the discipline. Wendy Holdener of Switzerland beat Sweden's Anna Swenn Larsson in the small final to complete the ladies' podium.
