Manolo Sánchez, Favorite Son of Villa de Ingenio, dies

The wake and subsequent burial will be this Tuesday in the Parish of Our Lady of La Candelaria, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Don Manuel Sánchez Hernández, better known as 'Manolito' Sánchez, Favorite Son of Villa de Ingenio, passed away this Monday.

Always faithful to the music, folklore and traditions of the municipality where he grew up, Sánchez founded the well-known popular music group 'Los Cochineros' with other colleagues in the 1960s.

Currently, Manolo Sánchez gives his name to the current Municipal School of Folklore, as well as to the building that houses the School of Music of the Villa de Ingenio Musical Society.

This Tuesday the Celebration of the Word and burial will take place at 1:30 p.m., while the Funeral Mass will be on Friday 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church of La Candelaria

The mayor of the municipality, Ana Hernández, has dedicated a few words to say goodbye to Sánchez: «One of the great references of folklore in our municipality, a kind, dear person, with a lot of patience, and teacher of several generations of musicians, was recognized by the Villa de Ingenio in life, and that makes me happy».

The Parish of Our Lady of La Candelaria has reported that this Tuesday, September 20, the Celebration of the Word will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the wake and subsequent Burial, while the Funeral Mass for his eternal rest will be on Friday 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Church of La Candelaria.
