Luis García Plaza has ceased this Tuesday to be the coach of Mallorca. The Balearic club has announced the dismissal of the coach who returned the vermilion team to Primera. The six consecutive defeats accumulated by the squad signed the sentence of the Madrid coach, which leaves the team in relegation places. The one chosen to replace him would be the Mexican Javier Aguirre.

The sharp decline of Mallorca in recent days has caused a swerve in the technical field with the departure of Luis García Plaza, who leaves the Balearic bench less than a year after leading the return of the vermilion to the First Division signing 82 points in the silver category. But despite the fact that the start of the current campaign was promising, Mallorca lost steam as the days went by and the poor dynamics in recent weeks has ended up devouring the coach.

Since defeating Athletic on the twenty-fourth day of the League, Mallorca has not added a single point, falling successively against Betis, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Celta, Real Madrid and Espanyol. Six consecutive defeats that have exhausted the patience of the Vermilion board, which is trying to turn around to save the category.

Mallorca occupies eighteenth place in the table with 26 points, one less than Cádiz, and the urgencies are increasing. The directive of the Vermilion entity manages a list of possible substitutes for Luis García Plaza in which Pablo Machín, Albert Celades or Javi Gracia appear, although the preferred one is Vasco Aguirre.

The Mexican coach, a good connoisseur of the League thanks to his time at Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, Zaragoza or Espanyol, has been free since he was fired last February by Monterrey. His last stay on a Spanish bench dates back to the 2019-20 campaign, when he took the reins of a Leganés team that had barely added five points in the championship on matchday thirteen. The cucumber team failed to maintain the category, but fought until the last date and was only one point away from salvation.
