The Community of Madrid received this Saturday a sixth plane from China loaded with 56 tons of medical equipment to be distributed among hospitals in the region.
The device, a cargo Boeing 777-200, chartered by the Community of Madrid, has landed this Saturday after 10:30 p.m. at the Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suárez airport from Shanghai (China), as indicated by the regional government in a press release.
With this, the Madrid Executive has managed six planes in which 408 tons of material have arrived in a month, reaching 18 million units including masks, protective suits and goggles, medical isolation gowns or leggings.
Specifically, with this aircraft, with 56 tons of supply, 2.2 million units of material have been received, distributed among 1.5 million masks -of which more than half a million are FFP2-, 560,000 gloves, and 158,000 gowns of medical isolation.
In addition, the device has brought from China up to 315 multi-parameter monitors, which are commonly used to care for patients who are hospitalized in ICUs.
From Barajas, the material will be transported to the warehouse in Hall 10 of Ifema, in a device piloted by the Ministry of Health.
This material is part of the purchases that the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has directly managed abroad during the last month.
The first flight with medical supplies for Madrid hospitals from China landed in Madrid a month ago, on April 2.
In the coming days, the Community of Madrid is planning the arrival of more shipments of medical supplies for the fight against COVID-19, among which would be the 14 million masks that the Madrid president announced that she would acquire to distribute to the population. facing the start of the de-escalation process.
The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has already approved, in its last two meetings, a total investment of 32 million euros for the acquisition of these masks.
