The City Council of Madrid has activated for today, Tuesday, the scenario 1 of the anti-pollution protocol for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), so the speed of movement in the M-30 and in the access roads inside the M- 40 remains limited to 70 kilometers per hour from 6:00 am.
According to a statement from the Environment and Mobility Area, the delegate, Inés Sabanés, will sign this morning the decree to activate this new Protocol, which will be in force for the duration of the pollution episode, and before noon measures will be announced. to apply tomorrow, Wednesday.
In the event that the exceedances of the contamination levels were maintained or increased, and if the weather conditions remained unfavorable, the activation of the successive traffic restriction measures included in the protocol would take place.
The City Council, which recommends to the public the use of public transport, reports traffic restrictions through the municipal website, traffic information panels and DGT, CRTM / EMT, traffic office, Emergencies Madrid, website http: / /madrid.es and social networks.
The Protocol of measures to be adopted during episodes of high pollution, says the City Council, aims to improve the air quality of the city and, therefore, increase the protection of the health of the public against the harmful effects of episodes of high pollution , and very especially that of the most vulnerable groups such as children, elderly people with respiratory problems, and pregnant women.
