Ephemeral statues on the streets of Madrid will remind Benito Pérez Galdós in 2019, on the anniversary of her death, the Mayor of Madrid and head of Culture and Sports has advanced this Monday, Manuela Carmena, in the appearance at their own request in the branch commission.
It would be to follow the model of Las Meninas that were in Madrid in recent months. With these statues citizens can discover or remember characters born from the imagination of the writer who described nineteenth-century Madrid, as Fortunata and Jacinta.
They will be part of the program that the City prepares for the anniversary of Benito Pérez Galdós to be held throughout 2019 and 2020. To do this, an inter-administrative commission will be created around this date, while a program will be developed in the network of municipal libraries around the author of the 'National Episodes'
Carmena has advanced a graphic novel contest about the figure and the work of Perez Galdós looking to introduce his figure in the new generations and in innovative formats such as comics.
