The Madrid City Council "will guarantee" food to children who use nursery schools in situations of vulnerability due to the closure of schools in the region starting tomorrow because of the coronavirus.
In this way, it will extend the catering service that has already been made available to users of senior centers, which also remain closed due to this epidemic.
This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís (Cs), at a press conference with the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, after the Government Meeting urgently met to address municipal actions against COVID-19, of which 782 infections and 21 deaths are counted in the Community of Madrid.
"To guarantee food to vulnerable elderly people who are not going to be able to go as a result of closing older centers, they will receive catering in their homes in all districts, and the same with nursery schools. There are child users who are equally in a situation of vulnerability and we will also guarantee catering food, "added the vice mayor.
Villacís has abounded that it is an "active" measure that will be offered to minors whose situation of vulnerability is identified and controlled by the social services of each district prior to the extension of COVID-19.
