The Community of Madrid has detected four confirmed cases of the new British strain of the coronavirus in the region. Another three are under study, the results of which may be known between Tuesday and Wednesday, the Deputy Minister of Public Health and the Covid-19 Plan, Antonio Zapatero, reported at a press conference.

One of the cases is related to trips from the United Kingdom through the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas airport. Zapatero has detailed that on Thursday of last week a citizen detected a positive in an antigen test and the next day three members of his family went to a hospital with symptoms, where they confirmed the coronavirus that belonged to that strain, although the first it does not count as such because it is not conformed. In addition to those, there is another young man who has also been detected Covid with the new strain.

Zapatero has stressed that it is a strain “more transmissible but that does not generate more serious clinical cases.”
