Lufthansa chief financial officer resigns after bailout approval

The Chief Financial and Digital Officer of Lufthansa airline group Thorsten Dirks has resigned a day after shareholders and the European Commission (EC) approved the company’s bailout.

Lufthansa reported today that the CEO, Carsten Spohr, will temporarily assume responsibility for the Finance and Digital area.

Lufthansa Chairman of the Supervisory Board Karl-Ludwig Kley thanked Dirks for his work, first as CEO of low-cost airline Eurowings “in a difficult phase” and recently as head of the group’s financial area.

Dirks had previously been an executive at E-Plus and Telefónica Deutschland.
