Lluís Pasqual, Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts | Culture

The Government has today awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts of 2018 to 21 personalities and entities from the world of Culture, including the theater director Lluís Pasqual, who in recent months has been at the center of the controversy for accusations of mistreatment of an actress that ended with her leaving the direction of Teatre Lliure. Since then, different personalities of culture have defended Pasqual of what they consider malicious attacks by pro-independence sectors.
And now it receives the accolade of the Government medal, which distinguishes "those who have excelled in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have rendered well-known services in the promotion, development or diffusion of art and culture or in the conservation of heritage." artistic ", as explained in a note by the Ministry of Culture.
Along with Pasqual, they will receive the award, at the proposal of the Minister of Culture, José Guirao, the actress Penelope Cruz; the singers Rubén Blades Y Gilberto Gil; the photographer Carlos Pérez Siquier; the Cook Angel León; the director and actor Gerardo Vera; singer Fatima Miranda; the guitarist Pepe Habichuela; the president of Hispania Nostra Araceli Pereda; the choreographer and dancer Rosángeles Valls; the bailaora Manuela Carrasco; the artist Roser Bru; the actress Margarita Lozano; the set designer Ezio Frigerio and the costume designer Franca Squarciapino (ex aequo); the composer Felix Ibarrondo; the director of La Mar de Músicas Paco Martín (posthumously); and the circus artist Tortell Poltrona. In addition, it will receive the Agrupación de Peñas del Carnaval de Cádiz; the Vostell Museum of Malpartida (Cáceres) and the Norman Foster Foundation.
