THE RACE BEGINS!!!

We review the rest of the starting positions that we have not commented on so far. Jorge Martín starts in 13th position, Alex Márquez in 16th, Pol Espargaró in 19th and Raúl Fernández in 25th.

And today is Andrea Dovizioso's last race, since Cal Cruthlow will replace him from the next Aragon Grand Prix. He is the second rider with the most races in history in 500cc / MotoGP (247), only surpassed by Valentino Rossi (372).

ALEX RINS, FEW PRIZES AT MISANO. The Barcelona Suzuki rider, who starts today in 12th position, has not been on the podium in any of his seven MotoGP races at the Misano – Marco Simoncelli circuit (San Marino and Emilia Romagna Grands Prix). It is the track in which he has competed the most times in the highest category without ever being able to finish on the podium.

Let us remember that Joan Mir does not participate due to injury in this race just in the week in which his signing by Honda has been confirmed to become Marc Márquez's new partner from next season.

Maverick Viñales, the other Aprilia rider, starts in 4th place and aspires to get his third podium with the Italian brand after already achieving it in the last Grand Prix of the Netherlands and Great Britain.

ALEIX ESPARGARÓ, INFALLIBLE IN POINTS. The Aprilia rider, who starts in 9th place today, has scored points in his last 14 races, his best historical streak with Aprilia and the best since a streak of 17 Grands Prix in a row between 2015 and 2016. He is, together with Marc Márquez, the only rider on the current MotoGP grid who has scored points in all the races he has contested this season (Aleix has contested all 13 Grand Prix this season and Márquez, six).

Italian drivers (Franco Morbidelli in 2020 and Francesco Bagnaia in 2021) have prevailed in the last two editions of the San Marino Grand Prix and have never linked three wins in a row in this race in the highest category.

Marco Bezzecchi completes the front row by starting the race in third position. This is the second time that the rider from Rimini has started from the front row in a race in the top category.

ENEA BASTIANINI, PODIUM COLLECTOR IN MISANO. The transalpine driver, who today starts in second position, has achieved a podium in six of his last nine races at the Misano – Marco Simoncelli circuit in all categories, the last four consecutively, including two victories (GP of San Marino in 2015 in Moto3 and Emilia Romagna GP in 2020 in Moto2).

MILLER COULD BREAK HIS RECORD FOR PODIUMS. The Australian rider has finished on the podium in three of his last four races, the last two consecutively and has never managed three in a row in his eight MotoGP campaigns. The Australian driver has achieved five podium finishes in 2022, his best figure so far in the premier class (also five in 2019 and 2021).

QUARTARARO, COMPLICATED TO REPEAT PODIUM IN MISANO. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) has finished on the podium in two of his previous three appearances at the San Marino Grand Prix in MotoGP (2nd in 2019 and 2021).

Today Bagnaia starts the race from the fifth position on the starting grid due to a penalty, while the pole went to Jack Miller, his teammate in the Ducati Lenovo Team, who obtained the first of the season and the first he has achieved since the 2018 Argentine Grand Prix. Fabio Quartararo, for his part, will start the test from 8th position.

PECCO, GOING FOR THE TEN VICTORIES. Francesco Bagnaia has accumulated nine victories so far in MotoGP and is the fourth Italian rider capable of achieving ten victories in the top categories after Valentino Rossi (89), Giacomo Agostini (68), Andrea Dovizioso (15) and Max Biaggi (13).

BAGNAIA CAN MAKE HISTORY WITH DUCATI. Francesco Bagnaia could be the first Ducati Lenovo Team rider to win four consecutive victories in 500cc/MotoGP. Until now, only Casey Stoner had linked three consecutive victories with the Italian team (twice, in 2007 and 2008).

MISANO, THE RIGHT SCENARIO FOR PECCO BAGNAIA. The Italian Ducati rider has already claimed victory at the 2021 San Marino Grand Prix and the Misano Circuit – Marco Simoncelli could be the first where he scores two MotoGP victories.

At the moment, Fabio Quartararo remains at the top of the drivers' ranking with 200 points, 32 more than Aleix Espargaró and 44 more than 'Pecco' Bagnaia. In this way, whatever happens today in Misano, the Frenchman is assured of continuing as the leader of the category.

After a start to the season marked by irregularities, with only one victory in the first seven races, Bagnaia has won in four of the last six, becoming the great alternative to Fabio Quartararo to win the top category title this season .

DUCATI OFFENSIVE. We are experiencing Ducati's full offensive in this second half of the MotoGP Championship, especially thanks to Francesco Bagnaia who has just won three in a row for the first time in his career in the top MotoGP category and today aspires to achieve fourth. The last rider to achieve four consecutive MotoGP victories was Marc Márquez in 2019 (five).

After the triumphs of Dennis Foggia in Moto3 and Alonso López in Moto2, we are now focusing on everything that may happen in a few moments in the MotoGP race, the highlight of the day.
