Leslie left losses of 30 million euros in the Portuguese town of Figueira da Foz



More than 20,000 users remain without light in Portugal for the damage caused by tropical storm Leslie, which only in the town of Figueira da Foz, one of the most affected, caused losses of more than 30 million euros.

A provisional balance of the damages to public infrastructures, equipments and companies throws losses by 32 million euros, according to advanced today the mayor of Figueira da Foz, João Ataíde das Neves.

In addition, 15 of the 55 schools in this Portuguese region, on the central Atlantic coast, are still closed, and at least 20,000 users continue without electricity and without fixed telephony.

The storm affected the coastline of the Lusan region in the early hours of Sunday, especially the districts of Coimbra, Leiria, Viseu and Aveiro, where it left 28 people slightly injured, 61 evacuated and more than 300,000 users without electricity.
