Lebron James Y Giannis Antetokounmpo, the two players who have received the most votes in the Western and Eastern Conference, will be the captains of the All Star to be held on February 17 in Charlotte. The Slovenian Luka Doncic will not be in the initial quintets, although it was the second most voted by the fans in the list of eaves and pivots of the Western Conference from which the three of esols had to leave ten starters. Now, Doncic remains at the expense of being chosen among the ten reserves that will be decided in the vote of the 30 coaches of the NBA.
The eight players that can be chosen by LeBron and Antetokounmpo – without distinction of Conferences and in a session that will be broadcast on February live on television – will be, coming from the West, Stephen Curry, James Harden, Paul George and Kevin Durant, and from the East, Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving, Kawhi Leonard and Joel Embiid.
Doncic received 4.2 million votes from fans. Among the eaves and pivots of the West was the second most voted, only behind LeBron James, with 4.6 million. But that popular vote represents 50% in the final decision, the vote of the players 25% and that of the press another 25%. The players placed Doncic in the eighth place and the press in the sixth. The three chosen were LeBron, the first for all; Kevin Durant, the second for the players and the press and the third for the fans with 3.1 million votes; and Paul George, the fourth in the three sections. Anthony Davis tied with George, but the technical tiebreaker benefited Oklahoma City's power forward.
In addition to Doncic, and according to the preferences of the fans, they would also have been in the initial quintets Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade, excluded after having counted the votes of the players and the press. According to many analysts, it will also be difficult for Doncic to be among the reserves designated by the coaches. The doubts will persist until the end. Many of those coaches have praised the 19-year-old Slovenian player who in his first season in the NBA is causing a sensation with the Mavericks.
LeBron, that after his signing last year for the Lakers, changed the Conference, assumes the captaincy that last year it was for Stephen Curry in the West, while the Greek Giannis Antetokounmpo adds a new distinction to his outstanding career by occupying the position of captain of the East that last season LeBron played as he played with Cleveland.
