Lawyers demand to suspend all trials due to the advance of the pandemic – La Provincia


The General Council of Spanish Lawyers (CGAE) has made public this Thursday its disagreement with the decisions adopted so far by the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) facing the pandemic by coronavirus. According to the provisions of the CGPJ, any closure or suspension for sanitary reasons will have to be adopted by the judge, and will be executed immediately but always obtaining the prior authorization of the president of the corresponding court, although afterwards each case will obtain the subsequent ratification of the Commission. The legal aid association Altodo has joined the Bar Council, which have also voiced their criticism of the CGPJ and demand preventive measures from the different administrations involved.
