The new Fiscal Council celebrates this Wednesday its first plenary session under the presidency of García Ortiz

The Fiscal Council issued from the polls in May will hold its first plenary session this Wednesday under the presidency of the newly appointed State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, thus opening a new stage in the consulting body, which will have among its first tasks to report on a battery of vacancies pending renewal, including the Head of Anti-Corruption.

This is the first plenary session held by this Fiscal Council after the constitutive session that took place on June 29. In the elections held on May 4 between the prosecutor race, the Association of Prosecutors (AF) won six of the nine seats at stake; while the Progressive Union of Prosecutors (UPF) --to which García Ortiz belonged-- lost half, falling to two; and the Professional and Independent Association of Prosecutors (APIF) managed to enter the advisory body.

The ex officio members of the Fiscal Council are added to the nine elective members: the deputy prosecutor of the Supreme Court and the chief inspector prosecutor, positions now held by María Ángeles Sánchez Conde and María Antonia Sanz, respectively.
