Dozens of neighbors receive Ayuso in Vallecas shouting "public health"

The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, was received this Monday in Vallecas by dozens of people who were protesting the closure of the Primary Care Emergency Services (SUAP) and demanded quality public health.

Ayuso had attended the 40th anniversary of the first Alcampo center in the region, on Moleón street. There, but a few meters from the entrance to the supermarket, dozens of people were waiting for her who received her with the cry of "public health" and with banners that demanded more resources for Primary Care, very battered in the Community of Madrid due to the lack of personnel and a high care load, as can be seen in this video shared by the councilor of Más Madrid in the City Council Paco Pérez.

Another of the demands was the reopening of the 37 emergency services closed in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and that have not yet been opened. Not only that, the Ministry of Health has announced that only 17 will reopen, after the summer, and that only a dozen of them will do so with a doctor. The other seven will have nursing staff.

Residents of different districts and cities in the region have been protesting this situation for months. Last week, the president, who had justified the "rearrangement" of out-of-hospital emergencies by stating that only 0.44% of what was treated in them were emergencies, modified her speech assuring that they would all open when she had the "possibility" , although without clarifying dates or forecasts after more than two years with all closed "temporarily".
