The director of the Casa del Tibet Foundation in Barcelona and a member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Lama Thubten Wangchen, has taken part in the "Tibet-China Peace Dialogue" tour, a car trip to 30 European countries to promote dialogue between the Dalai Lama and the government of Xi Jinping.
As the Wangchen lama explained to Efe, the objective is that his request "be heard and achieve a peaceful negotiation, face to face, under the auspices of the United Nations and the international community."
The trip, which commemorates 60 years of the occupation of Tibet and has departed today, the day of Tibet Democracy, is scheduled to travel more than 30 European countries in two months and a week.
"Every two days I will visit, together with my two companions Pau Nubiola and Javier Nogué, a country to promote awareness about the situation in Tibet," said Wangchen.
"I will meet politicians, members of parliaments and support groups in Tibet so that we can raise our voice together and demand an urgent dialogue," said the Buddhist monk, "the UN remains silent and since 2008 there have been no negotiations between the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government, "he added.
The lama has highlighted the responsibility of the media to "act as a dissemination window" for the world to hear its call to peace, "not only for Tibet, but for world peace."
The "Tibet-China Peace Dialogue" tour calls for support for a manifesto of "twelve points for the peace, happiness and prosperity of the Chinese and Tibetans," said Lama Thubten Wangchen.
The manifesto demands "urgent dialogue", "the liberation of Panchen Lama Gendun Choekyi Nyima", "freedom of religion, education and movement for Tibetans", "stop the destruction of Tibet's environment and respect for the nomadic way of life" , "the preservation of the Tibetan culture and language", "stop the Chinese project" A Belt, A Route "and the release of Tashi Wangchuk plus the rest of the political prisoners".
The return trip will be on November 8 to the city of Barcelona.
