The next July 15 will take place in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium of the Gran Canaria capital, the casting to select the actors and actresses (between eight and ten) that will take part during the month of November in the Actoral Dramaturgy Laboratory, that will be developed within the framework of the great scenic experimentation project called Galdós Laboratory.
The selection of the aforementioned casting will be carried out by one of the reference dramatists of the current Spanish scene, Laila Ripoll, and the actor and director Mariano Llorente, both founders of the company Micomicón and awarded in 2015 with the National Prize for Dramatic Literature and the Max Award for Best Theatrical Authoring for his work The blue triangle.
As happened last year with the Colombian Fabio Rubiano, playwright who has written the text of the work The crime of Fuencarral street which will be released, under the direction of Mario Vega, from October 10 to 12 at the Pérez Galdós Theater, the Madrileños Ripoll and Llorente are responsible for the dramaturgy that will be released in 2020 with which the initiative concludes Galdós Laboratory that they co-produce the Auditorium and Theater Foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Unahoramenos, counting on the sponsorship of the island's Cabildo, the Government of the Canary Islands, the City Council of the city and the collaboration of the City Council of Agüimes.
The casting will take place from 10 am to 2 pm and the actors and actresses selected in the final list that will be communicated on July 30, will be available to Ripoll and Llorente in the research process that both carry out during eight sessions during which they will draw lines of work that will help them outline the final text, based on the rich and complex Galdosian imagery and with the help from the interpreters.
Laila Ripoll and Mariano Llorente will return to Gran Canaria to give in November (days 7, 8, 14 and 15) another theatrical writing workshop for Canarian playwrights or residents of the islands. The call has been a success, as some forty applicants have been presented to the theater drama workshop and another fifteen for theater writing.
As you will remember this project began in 2018 with the delivery of its first assembly, Ana, we will also be forgotten, which featured the dramaturgy of the Canarian Irma Correa, which will be followed by the aforementioned title The crime of Fuencarral street (inspired by a journalistic chronicle written by Benito Pérez Galdós following a shocking assassination in Madrid in 1888), and the work still unnamed that will be written by alimón Ripoll y Llorente that will close the triangle in 2020. Galdós Laboratory takes place in the context of the broad program Biennium Galdosiano promoted between 2018 and 2020 by the Cabildo Gran Canaria, in order to celebrate the dimension of the heritage of the universal Canarian writer on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of his birth (1843-2018) and the 100th anniversary of his death (1920-2020).
