‘La casa de papel’ was the most watched series on the payment platforms available in France in 2020, reported this Wednesday the measurement society of audiences Médiamétrie, which ranks Spanish production ahead of US productions of Netflix and other great hits.
Also, another Spanish series, ‘The cable girls’, also broadcast by Netflix, ranked seventh in the national top, Médiamétrie announced in a conference broadcast on their networks.
The second and third place went to the American creations ‘Lucifer’ and ‘For thirteen reasons’, followed in turn by ‘Vikings’, ‘The Crown’ and ‘Murder’. It is striking that all of them are broadcast exclusively on Netflix, with the exception of ‘Vikingos’, also available on other private platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and My Canal, from Canal +.
Payment services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney + doubled their number of users, from 4.5 million in 2019 to 8.3 million in total in 2020, with an average daily use of three hours, compared to 2:51 in 2019.
Last year, 44.3 million French people watched television every day, for an average of almost four hours a day, 18 minutes more than in 2019. The percentage of time spent in front of television rose in particular in the spectator range between 15 and 34 years old, fourteen more minutes until reaching almost two hours a day.
