La Televisión Española 2 will broadcast live, tomorrow, Thursday, November 15, the inaugural concert of the Womad Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 2018 festival, which will be starring María José Llergo and Marc López. It will be at 8:00 pm, and on the main stage, the Santa Catalina.
Llergo and López are protagonists of the first day of the four of the Womad festival, which in 2018 and on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, recovers the format of four days. The couple, according to the organization, will offer "a show of pure flamenco roots with which the state chain brings its audience closer to the most important popular music of the world nationally and internationally".
The first day of Womad 2018, which focuses its activity on the same stage, will also include live performances by Behjo and Dj Pimp and the Belgians KermesZ à l'Est, a project that fuses klezmer music with hard rock and metal.
According to the organization, the collaboration of the Board of tourism of Gran Canaria has allowed to revalidate the commitment of the public channel with Womad Spain. The coverage of the Gran Canarian festival is completed with the specials of Radio 3 of Spain National Radio, which will broadcast from the Santa Catalina Park a special program, live and four hours long, which will cover much of Saturday night 17, the longest journey of Womad.
The program, led by Laura Martínez ( Balancers) and Rodrigo Suárez ( TransMúsica Express) will be broadcast from 21.00 to 1.00 hours for all of Spain to "bring to all its listeners the sound of the cultures of the world that comes out of the emblematic Santa Catalina park in the capital of Gran Canaria", according to a statement from Womad.
