A 53-year-old man today murdered his wife, 48, shot in a street in Sant Joan Les Fonts and left the victim's daughter seriously injured when she ran away from the scene, before being found dead hanged in a neighboring town.
With this sexist murder, 39 women died this year in Spain at the hands of their partners or ex-partners.
As reported by the Mossos d'Esquadra, the murder was committed at about 3:30 pm this afternoon when the man, of Spanish nationality and residing in Campdevànol (Girona), shot his wife dead in the street. She was accompanied by her two daughters.
When fleeing on board a car, the alleged assailant has run over one of the victim's daughters, aged 24, who is admitted with a reserved prognosis at the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona.
The Mossos d'Esquadra have started the search for the murderer and shortly after they found him dead in a forest in the nearby town of Montagut.
Although the police have not reported the circumstances of the man's death, some witnesses have explained that they had found him hanged.
The murderer had several previous complaints and a restraining order, have confirmed Efe sources of the investigation.
Sant Joan les Fonts is a town of just 3,000 inhabitants of the region of La Garrotxa where a fair was held today with the presence of visitors and different programmed activities.

Two women were killed in January, another two in February, three in March, four in April, one in May, five in June, six in July, another six in August and nine in September.
Andalusia, with ten fatalities, is the community with the most deceased women, followed by Catalonia with six (added today), and Galicia, Asturias and Madrid, with three.
In Castilla-La Mancha, Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Aragón, Comunidad Valenciana and País Vasco, two died in each. One woman lost her life in Murcia, and another in Navarra.
