JxCat asks Sánchez to resume the dialogue after the "failure" of the Sunday demonstration

JxCat pide a Sánchez retomar el diálogo tras el “fracaso” de la manifestación del domingo

The deputy spokesman of Junts per Catalunya (JxCat), Eduard Pujol, on Monday asked the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, to rectify and resume the dialogue with the Generalitat after the PP, Cs and Vox demonstration on Sunday in Madrid It has been a "failure".

This is what Pujol said at a press conference after the coordination meeting held with the PDECat in the Parlament. He has maintained that this demonstration was not as crowded as expected, so he urges Sanchez to do a "correct reading" and understand that the dialogue about Catalonia is the only solution.

"If you do a correct reading of the demonstration yesterday you have to think that all the previous fears yesterday were fused. That great mobilization that had to ask the end point of a Government for treason was not. If the PSOE's conviction is to speak, it must resume the path, "he argued.

He considers that the central government suspended the dialogue with the Generalitat due to pressure from PP, Cs and Vox, and believes that the demonstration has shown that this pressure is not so important: "We invite the President of the Spanish Government to re-analyze the situation, to assess what is its strength and what is the strength of the extreme right ".

"He has hours left but it would be good if the President of the Government took advantage of them to rectify what they announced on Friday: the breakdown of the talks," he insisted.

Asked if the reference to which Sanchez has hours left means that there is a possibility that PDeCAT will withdraw the amendment to the totality of the General State Budgets (PGE), Pujol has stated that "right now it is not on the table" and that they will not change their position if there is no government movement.

The leader of JxCat said that last week there were moments when the negotiation between the Government and the Generalitat was very advanced and they began to speak "things that were already mature" so that the dialogue would be really effective.

Thus, he regretted that both executives have different versions of these conversations, which he believes demonstrates the need for the figure of a rapporteur "to be neutral and independent".

Pujol explained that this Monday morning there was a strategic coordination meeting between JxCat and PDeCAT, in which they analyzed the scenario that emerged after the demonstration on Sunday and found that "surely this has to do or could open the door "To Sanchez rectify the suspension of the dialogue with the Government.
