Justice blocks four pirate websites in Spain with more than 13,000 illegal contents | Culture

The central administrative courts have authorized the execution of the blocking of four websites with illegal contents at the request of the Second Section of the Intellectual Property Commission. It is about the film and series pages www.cuevana2.tv and www.cuevana2.com and the books www.descargarlibrosgratis.biz and www.pdfyepub.com. These sites had an important Spanish audience and its blocking involves the withdrawal of more than 13,000 contents disseminated without respecting the intellectual property rights of their authors, according to the Ministry of Culture. The action has taken place at the request of holders of UVE and CEDRO rights.

Currently the global number of websites affected by legal actions amounts to 455 of which 94.06% have removed the infringing content once they have been notified. In cases where they do not voluntarily remove the indicated content, the pages are subject to blocking by court order, as has happened with the four of this Wednesday.

The effects of the campaign started in Spain are noticed. At ranking Alexa had 19 pirate pages among the 250 most visited in our country in 2017, a figure that had fallen to a dozen in 2018. In addition, according to an April report this year by the cultural industry, piracy has dropped by 6%. The legal offensive against the download pages also took BetterTorrent and Mejorenvo in July.
