Julia Ducournau receives the Cannes Palme d’Or for “Titane”

Cannes (France), Jul 17 (EFE) .- The French Julia Ducournau received this Sunday the Palme d’Or at the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival for her film “Titane” at the end of the awards ceremony and from the hands of Sharon Stone, after Spike Lee unveiled the award by mistake at the start of the gala.

Lee, after apologizing, was about to re-announce the award ahead of time, as Stone had not yet come out on stage.

It is the second Palme d’Or to receive a film directed by a woman after the one awarded to Jane Campion in 1993 for “The Piano” (“The piano”), although in that case it was ex aequo with “Adiós a mi concubina”, by Chinese Chen Kaige.
