The actor Juanjo Artero will perform tomorrow at 6:00 pm in La Cuarta Sala del Canal a series of texts that recall the birth of Benito Pérez Galdós.
It will be a new virtual initiative of the Canal Theaters of the Community of Madrid, within its proposal La Cuarta Sala del Canal that aims to maintain part of its activities in person and promote artistic creation while the measures adopted for the prevention of COVID19.
Benito Pérez Galdós was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on May 10, 1843, a moment that serves as a starting point for this tribute, with which it is intended to remember the teacher narrating notable events of his first years of life, he has specified in a regional administration press release.
Within the Galdós Year program of activities, adjusted to confinement by COVID-19, Artero will review key events in Galdós’ life such as the moment of his birth, the situation of the Pérez Galdós family at that time, or his baptism.
Juanjo Artero is a film, television and theater actor. Although his television career has been the one that has given him the most visibility, with well-known series such as ‘Verano azul’ or ‘El Comisario’, he has an extensive theatrical career in which he has worked with national playwrights such as Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente , Natalia Menéndez, Laila Ripoll, Gerardo Vera or José Carlos Plaza.
On the other hand, next Tuesday, May 12, the 99th anniversary of the death of the poet, journalist, critic, translator, storyteller and playwright Emilia Pardo Bazán, one of the most important figures of the second half of the Spanish 19th century.
For this reason, the actress Natalia Millán will star on the same day, at 6:00 p.m., a video-tribute to the author from A Coruña.
Natalia Millán is an actress, dancer and singer, who has an extensive career in show business.
He has participated in such successful musicals as ‘Cabaret’, ‘Chicago’ and ‘Billy Elliot’. As a television actress, her prolific resume includes titles like ‘A Step Forward’, ‘Velvet’ or ‘The Internship’. Millán has worked under the orders of directors such as Pilar Miró, José Luis Garci and Mateo Gil.
The two pieces, both tomorrow and Tuesday, are directed by Juan Carlos Pérez de la Fuente and can be followed in ‘La Cuarta Sala del Canal’ and on social networks under the labels #SinExitDeCasa, #ElCanalEnCasa and #LaCuartaSalaCanal.
Since its premiere on March 27, La Cuarta Sala del Canal is allowing the Madrid Region Canal Theaters to continue with part of their activities in person.
The Community of Madrid and the Teatros del Canal fulfill with this initiative the double objective of maintaining contact with the public and offering a new stage – through the Internet – to creators, actors, directors, dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers , writers, plastic artists, photographers and video artists, who thus have a new public space for expression, exchange, encounter and creation.
