Juan Carlos I, photographed in Abu Dhabi supported by two escorts
The emeritus king has been photographed in Abu Dhabi, where he has been since August. In the image, taken three days ago, Juan Carlos I appears accompanied by two bodyguards, according to the Telecinco program 'Viva La Vida'.
Juan Carlos I traveled to Abu Dhabi after his decision to move his residence outside of Spain was made public. Felipe VI's father explained then that he was leaving Spain "due to the public repercussions that certain past events are generating" in his private life and to facilitate his son's work as head of state.
A few weeks ago, the emeritus king announced that he would not finally return to Spain at Christmas due to the coronavirus pandemic and his status as a high-risk person.
