The German Josef Ferstl unveiled this Sunday as the winner of the emblematic supergiant race played at the station in Kitzbühel (Austria).
At 30, with no more baggage than his triumph in the supergigante of Val Gardena / Groeden (Italy) of 2017, Josef Ferstl is crowned in Kitzbühel. He stopped his time in 1: 13.07 and led an unusual podium, with the French Johan Clarey, 38, in second place (+0.08).
The Italian Dominik Paris, winner on Friday of the relegation test, was third (+0.10).
Of the three, in fact, Paris is the one that presents better winners in the World Cup of alpine skiing, with 12 victories, after his recent success in Kitzbühel. In 2015, the supergiant won here.
This time he gave the lights to Josef Ferstl. The German, winner of the Val Gardena / Groeden supergiant in 2017, climbed back into the first box 408 days later. Those two victories are his only two podiums in the World Cup. Beat by a narrow margin of 8 hundredths to Johan Clarey and 10 to Dominik Paris.
