Jordi Sànchez announces that he will not opt to renew his position as leader of Junts

The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Sànchez, has announced by surprise that he will not opt for the renewal of his position in the party because "the times require a different way of working".

Sànchez has said it during his speech at the Consell Nacional de Junts, which is being held this Saturday in Alcarràs (Lleida), and has assured that it is "a decision fully made". The one who was president of the ANC during the 1-O referendum thus leaves the way clear for the race for the leadership of Junts among the rest of the party's leading actors.

It has also announced that the next Congress of the party will be held "in the first fortnight of June in Northern Catalonia" and will be attended by the former president of the Generalitat and the leader of the party, Carles Puigdemont, and the ministers Lluís Puig and Toni Comín.
