The head of pediatrics at Hospital Universitarios San Roque Maspalomas, Jesús Poch Páez, died today in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at the age of 63. His loss has generated deep regret among the health sector, especially in the Canary Islands Health Service to which he has dedicated much of his career.
Poch graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of La Laguna, specializing in Pediatrics and its specific areas. In 1998 he began his career in public health, where he was responsible for the Infectious Unit of the Maternal and Child Hospital of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
During the last years he was in charge of the Pediatric Unit of Hospital Universitarios San Roque Maspalomas, in charge of the opening of the emergency unit at Hospital San Roque Maspalomas that was inaugurated in August 2018.
Jesús Poch was also secretary of the Canary Society of Pediatrics of Las Palmas.
