Jesus Carmona, in the creation mode, and Iratxe Ansa, in interpretation, they obtained this Monday the National Dance Awards 2020 awarded annually by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, endowed with 30,000 euros each.
The jury has assessed the award of this award to Jesús Carmona "the depth of his creative work in which the investigation starts from respect for tradition and innovates with reflective skill, turning into choreographic material a rich repertoire of experiences ".
He has also highlighted his "constant search for the creative essence", as well as "his personality and marked character as a performer", traits that "are clearly evident in his latest shows Impetu's, Amator and El Salto", the jury has reviewed in a note . Jesús Carmona (Barcelona, 1985) is a dancer, creator and choreographer Degree in Spanish Dance and Flamenco from the Institute of Theater and Dance of the city of Barcelona.
He has trained with Bárbara Kasprovich, Rodolfo Castellano, Ion Garnica and Carmen Huguet in Classical Dance, and in flamenco with Antonio Canales, Eva Yerbabuena, Domingo Ortega, Manuela Carrasco and Ángel Rojas, among other illustrious teachers. And he has worked in the New Spanish Ballet and in the companies of Carmen Cortés, El Güito, Rafael Amargo, Antonio Canales and La Truco.
He made his professional debut at the age of 16 at the Zorrilla Theater with the Orquesta del Liceo de Barcelona and has been awarded as Best Outstanding Dancer at the XX Spanish Dance and Flamenco Contest of Madrid in 2011.
The dancer, performer, choreographer and teacher Iratxe Ansa has created more than twenty pieces with which he has traveled more than thirty countries. The jury has recognized "her dimension as a performer, which makes her shine beyond her purely physical work", as well as "for the mastery with which she feeds the body to transcend technique in a constant and versatile evolution".
They have also highlighted in his career "the choreographic treatment of his interpretations, approached from a deep stage investigation"Traits that they consider to define" their personal conception of dance and creation and which are reflected in their recent works Travellus (2018) and Dog talks (2019) ".
Ansa graduated from the Superior Conservatory of Music in San Sebastián, her city of birth, and continued her studies at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart. Since 1993 he has been part of different international companies such as Basel Ballet, Gulbelkian Ballet, the National Dance Company (in which he was between 1997 and 2002), the Lyon Opera Ballet and the Nederlands Danse Theater.
He has worked with choreographers such as Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Crystal Pite, Medhi Walerski, Johan Inger, Ohad Naharin, Mats Ek, Nils Christe, Patrick de Bana, Wayne McGregor, Maurice Causey among others.
And it has been awarded in 2002 with two awards Benois de la Danse with Nacho Duato, and that same year she won the Audience Selection award and the Best Dancer Award at the Solo Tanz Internationales theater festival in Germany. In 2007 her artistic career was recognized by the Association of Dance Professionals.
Since 2014, together with Igor Bacovich, he has developed his own method of contemporary dance called 'Metamorphosis Method', a project on which a movie documentary film.
The jury has been chaired by the general director of the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), Amaya de Miguel, and the deputy director general of Music and Dance, Antonio Garde, acting as vice president.
