The philosopher Javier Muguerza, (Málaga, 1939), creator of the Institute of Philosophy of the Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC), has died today in Madrid.
The Minister of Culture, José GuiraoHe has conveyed his condolences to the family and friends of the philosopher and has remembered him as "a key name in contemporary Spanish philosophy" in a message on the Twitter account of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Muguerza, who was also a professor of Ethics at UNED, "was a great teacher, in the broadest sense of the word," according to Efe's rector, Ricardo Mairal.
"A very prominent figure in philosophy and the UNED, where he exercised brilliantly promoting lines of research of which the university has been greatly enriched," stressed the rector who has considered that his death has been a great loss for the university community
Muguerza contributed, according to a tribute book published by the CSIC, for forty years "as no one" to the modernization of Spanish thought, making known the analytical philosophy, critical theory and the Anglo-Saxon and German moral and political currents.
