The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, asked this Thursday for the solidarity of the Lower House with the Community of Madrid in the fight against the coronavirus because its hospitals and the Intensive Care Units (ICU) are “on the verge of collapse”.
In his second appearance in Congress that debates the extension of the state of alarm decree, Sánchez recalled that “Madrid has always been generous and now needs Spain as a whole. Today, it is Madrid and tomorrow it can be Catalonia and other autonomous communities and we must be united. “
Sánchez has stressed that this is the time to show solidarity with the people of Madrid and has assured that the Government will guarantee equity and will put healthcare resources in the Community of Madrid from other parts of Spain.
“And that solidarity will help Madrid at this critical moment and then solidarity will be with Catalonia and the territories that request it,” he said.
Therefore, he has asked the House as a whole “time, unity and loyalty” to win the war on the virus.
