o Ismael García Roque has been selected to represent Spain in the World Cup that will take place from August 10 to 14 in Herning, Denmark. The 40-year-old rider from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is also the
reigning champion of Spain in the highest category in show jumping.

Ismael and the mare La Costa will start their career together in January 2021 The successes and good results have led them to be part of the first national team in the main international competitions in the discipline of show jumping.

After competing in various Nations Cups and Grands Prix
They managed to win the position to represent Spain in the European Championship that was held in August 2021 in Germany ending with a more than approved participation. In October they were proclaimed champions of Spain together, a title that Ismael revalidated for the second time, an achievement reserved for very few riders in the history of our country.
Later, the binomial would once again face the best in the world in Barcelona, ​​in the final of the Nations Cup where Spain achieved a historic classification for the grand final. The Santauteño had a lot to do with this success.

Unfortunately, before the end of the year, an injury left his mare La Costa out of competition until well into 2022. However, Ismael had a clear goal, "to recover the mare and prepare to participate in the most important event after the Olympic Games. I had to get selected."

A few weeks ago the Royal Spanish Equestrian Federation made the list official and Ismael, along with La Costa, will be part of the national team.

with only eight years in the equestrian facilities of Marzagán, already disappeared, Ismael García Roque has not stopped reaping important triumphs. At just 18 years old, he left the archipelago to become a professional in the discipline, working constantly and tirelessly until he became the best national rider,

Next August 10, the competition in the show jumping discipline will start, which will consist of two team events -also scoring for the individual classification- and two other individual events. The expedition that will represent Spain will be made up of Sergio Álvarez Moya, Eduardo Álvarez Aznar, Manuel Fernández Saro, all of them Olympic riders, and Ismael García Roque, who is making his debut this time in an event of this magnitude. As a reserve rider they have had the Madrilenian Santiago Núñez Riva. All of them travel under the command of team leader Carolo López Quesada and national coach Alberto Honrubia.
«It is an opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris. To do this, we have to be among the top six ranked countries. For my part, I will go all out and give my best. I notice that La Costa is very fit and willing. We'll see what happens".
