The Iranian state television channel IRIB would have canceled the transmission of the party of the Bundesliga -the German football league- played between the Bayern Munich and the Augsburg because it was refereed by a woman, the German referee Bibiana Steinhaus, as reported by various Iranian media.
In Iran, images of women in tight or short clothes are not shown on televisiona, as for example in short sports pants, because of the strict Islamic rules that govern in the country. Movies of this type are also censored in movies.
In the case of the football match on Friday, given that referee Steinhaus appears constantly during the match, it would not have been possible to cut the scenes and therefore it would have been decided to cancel the broadcast.
Iranian television has been banned for similar reasons raffles or opening ceremonies of soccer tournaments important in their entirety due to the strict rules. Iranian fans always react with anger at these measures, but the influential religious do not give in their restrictive interpretation of the Islamic precepts.
