Investigation of the virulence of the outbreak in the Alcoy residence, with 26 deaths

The Ministry of Health of the Generalitat Valenciana investigates the virulence of the coronavirus outbreak that affects the nursing home in Alcoy (Alicante), where 26 deaths have already been registered.

This was stated this Wednesday by the Minister of Health, Ana Barceló, at the press conference to update the data of the pandemic in the Valencian Community, where he specified that the samples are being processed for residents and staff with symptoms to determine what is the origin, and from epidemiology they study what this virulence is due to.

So far, positive cases have been detected in 45 nursing homes in the Valencian Community, in which a total of 41 deaths have occurred.

181 residents and 66 workers have tested positive, and another 326 workers are in quarantine, according to data provided this Wednesday by the Ministry of Health.
