People from other countries must undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Spain starting this Friday, May 15, and while the state of alarm continues, according to an order from the Ministry of Health published by the Official Gazette of the State.
The order establishes the quarantine conditions to which international travelers must submit, and recalls that this average has been applied to the exceptional authorizations granted for the repatriations of Spaniards and residents in Spain from Italy.
But it stresses that the “favorable evolution” of the epidemiological situation and the start of the de-escalation make it necessary to reinforce control measures, according to the worldwide distribution of the virus and based on the precautionary principle.
Upon arrival in Spain, travelers will be required to quarantine for 14 days at their home or accommodation and must limit their travel to the acquisition of food, pharmaceuticals and basic necessities; assistance to health centers, services and establishments; and those who obey causes of force majeure.
All movements will be made with a mask and must observe all hygiene measures and prevention of the transmission of the disease caused by the coronary artery, especially with regard to contact with those who live with them.
The health authorities may contact the people in quarantine to monitor them, but if they have symptoms such as fever, cough, respiratory distress, general discomfort or other symptoms of a suspected case of COVID-19, they should call the health services and indicate that they are quarantined for coming from abroad.
Cross-border workers, carriers and crews, as well as health professionals who are going to carry out their work activities, are excepted from these measures, provided they have not been in contact with people diagnosed with coronavirus.
Travel agencies, tour operators and transport companies must inform travelers of these measures at the beginning of the ticket sales process destined for Spanish territory.
In the case of aircraft, companies must provide a public health form to locate passengers (Passanger Location card), which must be entered by the traveler upon arrival in Spain.
