The new digital world requires different eyes. A new look. Almost two years later, and with the Group approaching its first century of history, Telefónica has taken a new step in that direction this week, in order to create the future and apply the new vision that digitization requires. Álvarez-Pallete announced on Tuesday the launch of a large Hub Innovation and Talent at its Madrid headquarters in Distrito Telefónica.

Its 140,000 square meters will become a great center of technological excellence and innovation exchange, mainly dedicated to 5G, Artificial Intelligence, intelligent fiber optics, Edge Computing, algorithms Deep learning, Internet of Things, Cloud, Cybersecurity, Blockchain and Video, and with the capacity to train 100,000 people each year, who will have the best opportunities to acquire new skills and digital training. In its initial phase, the Hub It will host fifty first-rate technological developments with experiences based on holographies, gaming, robots, connected cars, drones, state-of-the-art security or the latest advances in hybrid classroom development.

Telefónica will invest 100 million euros in this Hub until 2024. It will not be just any year, because it will be then when it will be 100 years old, and this initiative fits in with the way and with the philosophy with which Telefónica wants to reach its centenary. Because, as its president emphasizes, “The important thing is not only what, but how”.
